For the love of all Children

This last week has been a particular emotional week for me. I have had the amazing gift of connecting with children who had passed to bring comfort and hope to loved ones. The only problem for me is that these beautiful children died at the hands of monsters. Adults who hurt them and selfishly took what they want from innocent children who are not strong enough, old enough or physically big enough to protect themselves. As I sat and listened to these wise little souls speak of compassion, courage, love and forgiveness I just couldn’t understand how anyone could hurt these babies. It could be a parent, a stranger and relative- but each hurt these children and betrayed the innocent trust of a child to be loved and protected. Are children not sacred? As a society we punish these people with light jail sentences – releasing them back into the world to parent, teach, live amongst us. Can these people be rehabilitated? Honestly I do not know. I would hope that people can change but when the crimes are so horrific, with the victims so innocent and defenseless – there has to be that doubt. As I sit writing this I see the innocent smiling beautiful faces of all these children – amongst the beautiful faces of my own children. My question to myself is what can I do- and I know that right now I am doing something. I am giving this voice. The stories are horrific, tragic and heartbreaking- and the saddest most disappointing part is that there are far too many stories. I am taking it from the closet, under the rug and outing it out there for all to see, hear so others may join my speaking up. To do something – anything to help our society protect our children. Change happens first when there is a willingness to speak up- it happens one step at time and united we can make a difference. How can we prevent tragedies and the deaths of more children, so there are no tragic stories- how can we start to make sure our children are protected, and in some of the worst cases protected from the very people who are entrusted to keep them safe, loved and secure. Will you join me to change the world step by step.. united as one voice? What can you and I do? Talk about it, educate yourself and your children and most of all just speak up… To all the beautiful children of the world who have been and being hurt, abused or had their lives taken I am so very sorry that in your hour of need you weren’t protected, kept safe and loved. It is my pledge to you to work towards protecting all the children- your children, my children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins so they may live lives full of laughter, unconditional love, nurturing, happiness, safety, security, peace and calm - to be confident and filled with self belief and love. |
